I had a stylized photoshoot I was planning for the local agriculture and farm industry in my community. As I was driving around town, I found this amazing turquoise truck and my mind went crazy with the possibilities. My mind went straight to a farm that I remember as a youngster and it was nostalgic. Impactful imagery literally can bring you back to a moment that your brain will fill you with memories, sights, smells, feelings all at once – it’s powerful.
I knew in my heart that “Old Blue” just had to be a part of my shoot – in fact, it needed to be the centerpiece!
The problem: I had NO idea who owned this broken down old beauty.
The solution: Track him down – don’t take no, find the owner 🙂
It wasn’t as challenging as I believed it would be and was able to speak to him and share my vision for his gem. So many obstacles, it didn’t run. All the tires were flat, old and cracked. It was broken down and in spite of the obstacles one think you’ll learn about me is I believe that ANYTHING is possible and I’ll knock and knock to find answers and solution to the vision I have for any shoot I do. I think I spoke so fast to the owner and was so full of passion, he ended up wanting to be a part of the story and agreed to let me take it off the lot.
We were on our way to fulfilling a beautiful vision!
I often refer to my husband as my WRImagery Engineer – well, he is a general contractor and can do or build anything. I needed help getting this truck to a local farm. It was beyond my own capabilities and I needed to ask for help.
Upon hearing that moving this thing was a bigger deal than I even imagined, I was devastated when he informed me that he could help me that week with his current work load.
In coordinating with 14 people from various farms in our region and I only had 3 days to either get this truck out to the site or come up with a completely different concept.
There are times when I don’t like hearing “no” as an answer! Especially, in my heart of hearts, I knew it was possible. “Advantage Towing!!!” I contacted their staff who connected with the owner and they got back to me immediately with the best news of day – “YES WE CAN HELP!” We’d love to support this project!!
So, I started reaching out to this amazing community and was able to reach a fellow Grass Valley Chamber member, Advantage Towing and shared my vision and need for help. I was so surprised when they said, “Let me go out and take a look before I commit.” Indeed a theme – this was going to be more challenging than anticipated but they were up for the challenge!
So, this beauty was picked up and delivered to our photoshoot site and the canvas was painted. This was one of my most favorite commercial photoshoots – I only had about 30 minutes to stage the truck, and all of the participants along with their “props” which I had no idea what they were bringing out and magic happened – the sun started to set peaking over the trees giving us that perfect golden hour light and I got to tell the story of our farming community through my imagery.
Are you ever told no and in your heart knew that something was possible – I always explore the possibilities and help you create magical images that impact the viewer!
A huge shout out to Tommy (Big blue’s owner), Tony and his team at Advantage Towing and the rest of the individuals and businesses who participated in this stylized shoot! It turned out perfect and when “no” turns into a “yes” – this Photographer is THRILLED and she dances on her way home!
